Job Overview

The firm is currently seeking an associate to join its patent and trademark prosecution practice in its Agoura Hills office in the west Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years experience working in IP law
• Mechanical or electrical engineering or comparable degree
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (“USPTO”)
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Ability to work independently
• Problem-solving skills for complex IP legal issues
• Willingness to learn multiple facets of intellectual property law at a small firm

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing inventions submitted by inventors
• Drafting patent applications
• Preparing patent and trademark Office Action responses
• Analyzing patent claims
• Preparing patent infringement and validity studies
• Conducting legal research
• Performing trademark searches
• Conducting patentability searches
• Providing related intellectual property litigation support for:
• Matters pending in District Court
• Administrative proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (“PTAB”)
• Administrative proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (“TTAB”)
